Subject at a More Demanding Level
For students who are eligible to take up subjects (English, Mother Tongue, Science, Math) at a more demanding level, parents/guardians will receive notifications via Parents Gateway or phone call.
Students can choose to accept or decline this offer (refer to notifications on Parents Gateway). Upon accepting the offer, students can proceed to purchase books for the subject at a more demanding level.
Higher Mother Tongue Language (HMTL)
HMTL offers students the opportunity to study Chinese, Malay or Tamil at an advanced level. It is a four-year course leading to the SEC examination for HMTL in Sec 4.
Based on MOE criteria, to be eligible for HMTL, students must meet the following requirements: AL 1/ AL 2 in MTL, or Distinction/ Merit in HMTL.
Internally, the school provided the option of HMTL to students who demonstrate potential and a strong interest in the subject. These students must meet the following PSLE requirement: AL 3 in MTL and a pass in HMTL.
Notifications will be sent via Parents Gateway if your child is eligible for HMTL. Please refer to the notifications and complete by 26 December 2025.

For the outcome of the 3rd language application, please refer to the notification in the Parents Gateway.
